PIG

Absolutely bloody brilliant.

Another great, slow, quirky and ever so slightly other worldly performance from Nic Cage.

Completely mesmerised from the get go, especially with the pace of it, and the wonder of that pace never letting up is that having no idea where the film is going, it creates a kind of tension because you have no idea if that pace is going to be broken at any moment with a violent outburst or even really what direction it might take next or can they sustain it?

Couldn’t help thinking it reminded me of a laid back, stoner version of Tom Yum Goong (Warrior King) with the whole rescuing your animal theme.

It also had so much to say, in between the silences, about so many subjects, “We only get a few things to ever truly care about.” is a great line.

I’m not particularly a food fan so that bit was slightly wasted on me but I was fully with it for the film even if it’s not my thing.

I’m loving this recent run of his films with these loner, slow, almost silent, broken characters he’s playing and this one was exemplary.

Slow your mind down, get comfy, remove expectations and let this film carry you along with its journey like a leaf in a stream.

It also looked and sounded bloody beautiful too.
